Access Pipeline’s head office is located in Calgary, Alberta, with the pipeline control centre and field operations based at our Sturgeon Terminal near Redwater, Alberta.
Access Pipeline currently operates two pipeline systems:
- A 16-inch, 345-kilometerline line that delivers diluent to the SAGD operations.
- A 24-inch, 295-kilometer line that connects to a 30-inch, 50-kilometer line that transports diluted bitumen (dilbit) from Christina Lake to Edmonton, where the product connects with existing pipeline systems to be sent further downstream to markets.
The pipeline system is remotely monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by high-tech equipment at our Sturgeon Terminal control centre. This supervisory control system provides the necessary safe guards to operate the pipeline in accordance with the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) regulations.
